Aston Villa face Ipswich Town on Saturday in the Championship, and HITC pundits give their predictions on the likely outcome.

Dan Coombs

Aston Villa 3-0 Ipswich Town

This is the game where it all finally comes together for Aston Villa, with pressure building on Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy. Back Scott Hogan to get off the mark, and optimism to come flooding back to Villa Park.

Four defeats in five means the doubters are out in force at Villa Park. Steve Bruce’s new 3-5-2 formation failed to pay dividends at Forest but he will stick with it against Ipswich. However, the superb form of Tom Lawrence could render any tactical tinkering somewhat obsolete.

Alfie Potts-Harmer

Aston Villa 1-1 Ipswich Town

Aston Villa are without a win in 6, whilst Ipswich are now on a run of 4 games without victory. Both teams will be hoping to end those runs at Villa Park, but I’ve a feeling neither will. Aston Villa have been dreadful in recent weeks, despite their obvious quality, I can’t see Steve Bruce’s men keeping a clean sheet, and therefore a score-draw is my prediction.

Vincent Ralph

Aston Villa 1-0 Ipswich Town

Villa need to start winning to ease the pressure on manager Steve Bruce and I can see a narrow victory for the hosts in what should be a very even contest.

Che Thomas

Aston Villa 1-0 Ipswich Town

Neither side is in good form, and both may harbour ambitions of pushing on and making a play-off challenge. But more is expected of Bruce, with the many millions spent by Villa this season, and his squad has what it takes to get three points on Saturday. If he fails to do that, there will be big questions.

Villa should really start getting their act together if they’re to make this season’s play-offs and a visit from Ipswich Town is as good a chance as any to do that. Mick McCarthy’s side may be struggling, but they rarely shirk a battle such as this one – although I think the Villans will sneak it.
