Arne Slot has officially begun life as Liverpool’s new manager.
One of the great things about Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at Anfield is the type of players that were purchased and how they were transformed into world stars.
Liverpool fans will be hoping that Slot can bring that same magic and he will have the help of the returning Michael Edwards.
The transfer guru’s first spell on Merseyside was legendary because of the players that were purchased for very little, such as Andy Robertson, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Joel Matip, to name a few, and how much of an important role they played in the team winning every trophy possible.
It seems as though Liverpool will be going down a familiar road again this summer with Edwards back in the hot seat.
You could argue that the club’s transfer business during the last few years, hasn’t exactly been up to scratch and there have been more off-colour signings than good ones.
Natalie Sawyer was discussing the possibility of Liverpool signing Bryan Mbeumo this summer and how she ‘doesn’t want to even ask the question’ of whether he would be a good fit for the Premier League giants.
The TV and radio presenter is a Brentford fan and she dubbed Mbeumo as a ‘really exciting player’, but clearly doesn’t want her club to lose him to the Reds, as she told talkSPORT (02/06/24 at 8:55 am).
But she did express her surprise at the versatile forward not attracting transfer interest before this summer.

“I don’t know if I want to even ask this question, but according to L’Equipe, Liverpool are keen on signing the Brentford forward, Bryan Mbeumo,” said Sawyer.
“Mo Salah’s future is still up in the air, with a move to Saudi still rumoured, so is Mbeumo the type of player that would fit in at Liverpool. Oh, for goodness sake!
“He is 25 in August. I would say you have got loads of time to just leave him where he is. I am sort of surprised that no one has ever really been linked with him before. A good finisher. He started the season really well, then picked up an injury and that ruled him out of the Africa Cup of Nations. I think he is a really, really exciting player. And only 24. I don’t think Brentford need to sell him, I would say that. Money talks, at the end of the day.”
Bryan Mbeumo would be a smart buy
This is the type of signing Liverpool should push for, rather than paying an overinflated price for someone just as good.
Mbeumo has been an underrated cog in that Brentford wheel, with Ivan Toney getting most of the limelight.

Even though Toney has played a central role for Brentford over the years, Mbeumo has still managed to score 18 goals in two seasons and also supply close to 20 assists.
This has Michael Edwards written all over it and you wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.
