Speaking on the Bhavss14 YouTube channel, Football London journalist Chris Wheatley has shared an update on Arsenal’s transfer plans.

Wheatley is often the go-to man when it comes to Arsenal news, and he says that a good contact has told him that the Gunners are preparing an offer for two players worth a combined total of £80m.

What’s been said?

Wheatley says that he’s heard that the Gunners are ready to spend big on two players, with two bids worth a combined £80m lined up.

“I did hear that Arsenal are preparing an offer for two players for £80m, so £80m combined. I heard that a few weeks ago, but I didn’t publish it because I couldn’t fully verify it., but I’m telling you now because it’s an interesting line and it came from a good contact,” Wheatley said.

Who are the players?

Unfortunately, Wheatley didn’t disclose who the two players were.

We already know that the Gunners have put a £45m bid in for Ben White, while they’ve also offered £13m for Albert Sambi Lokonga, so those two figures don’t quite add up.

Could these two players be two that we haven’t seen linked as of yet? Perhaps, but given the extensive coverage of Arsenal transfers from all across Europe, that does seem unlikely.

The likes of Alexander Isak, James Maddison and Martin Odegaard have all been linked, so perhaps one of those makes up this reported £80m double bid.

At the moment, we can’t say for sure who the players are, but with Wheatley’s record of being a reliable source for news, this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
