Some West Ham fans on social media are utterly baffled by the rumours linking the Hammers with a loan move for Jesse Lingard.
The Manchester United midfielder has been linked to Tottenham recently, but it seems as though West Ham have now surged ahead in the race for him.
Usually, you’d expect the Hammers fanbase to be buzzing about pipping Tottenham to a signing, but on this occasion some of them are perplexed.
Indeed, certain fans believe they have enough players in Lingard’s position, and to be fair, we’re inclined to agree with the likes of Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini and Said Benrahma all able to play as attacking midfielders.
Lingard isn’t on small wages either, so this is a deal that could set West Ham back a little bit, and we can’t help but feel that this money would be better spent on a striker after the Hammers were left short by the departure of Sebastien Haller.
We can only hope that Lingard proves everyone wrong when he arrives, and as we know, he has the talent to do that, after all, he was once one of the first names on the England teamsheet.
