Sheffield United are among the bookies’ favourites to sign the Peterborough captain this month.
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has responded on Twitter to a Sheffield United supporter who tabled a ‘formal bid’ for Posh captain Chris Forrester ‘on behalf’ of the Blades.
Forrester has impressed since moving to London Road in 2015 from League of Ireland side St Patrick’s Athletic, and was recently linked with moves to West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City (Irish Independent).

Though Sheffield United have not been formally linked with Forrester this window, the League One leaders feature intriguingly highly on bookmaker Paddy Power’s list of candidates to sign the midfielder, behind the Baggies and ahead of Everton, with odds of 7/1.
However, one Blades fan is especially keen to see Forrester at Bramall Lane, and offered to buy the 24-year-old for £1.5 million – rising to £2.5 million after 40 Championship appearances.
MacAnthony, though, was quick to shoot him down – albeit politely.
Chris Wilder’s side have already boosted their promotion-chasing side with MK Dons winger Samir Carruthers this month, and the former Northampton Town boss has admitted to wanting more additions in wide areas.

The South Yorkshire side are expected to be without on-loan Middlesbrough winger Harry Chapman for much of the campaign.
