Could Sheffield United and Everton make moves for Forrester this month?

Bookmakers Paddy Power have listed Sheffield United and Everton among the main candidates to sign Peterborough United midfielder Chris Forrester this month.

The Posh captain, who operates mainly as a left winger but can play anywhere across midfield, was linked with moves to West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City at the start of the month (Irish Independent) – and the Baggies are currently listed as 6/1 favourites for his signature.

However, neither Sheffield United or Everton have been formally associated with Forrester this transfer window – although the Toffees were linked back in 2012 (Mirror) – making their presence (at 7/1 and 8/1 respectively) particularly intriguing.

Everton are no stranger to raiding England’s lower leagues for talent, as the Blades know all too well, having sold teenager Dominic Calvert-Lewin to the Toffees back in August.

However, at 24 years old, Forrester would be a somewhat more unusual target.

The Irishman arrived at Peterborough from St. Patrick’s Athletic in 2015 and has scored five goals and created another four in 73 appearances for the London Road outfit.
