Kevin Hatchard has stated that Sporting Lisbon wing-back Pedro Porro would be ‘perfect’ for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur.

The European football expert added that Porro is a ‘really exciting’ player and someone who is ‘mega attacking’ out on the flanks, as he told Transfer Talk on Sky Sports.

It’s doom and gloom for Tottenham, at this moment in time, with Conte keen to bolster his squad during the January transfer window.

The Italian has been backed during the previous two transfer windows but will Spurs go again for their trophy-laden coach, who is struggling at this moment in time?

Prior to the north London derby, the mood around the club wasn’t great and it wouldn’t have been helped by Arsenal rocking up and producing a masterclass of a performance and securing all three points.

Nonetheless, amid all this talk around Porro and whether or not Tottenham will sign the 23-year-old, Hatchard shared what type of player he is and how he is a level above what Conte already has to pick from.

“He’s really exciting,” said Hatchard. “He’s mega attacking. Doherty I like, but is he top-level? How high is his ceiling? Emerson Royal will always work hard for you, but I don’t think he’s the level a club like Tottenham require, that’s been proven.

“But Pedro Porro is somebody who is always looking to get forward. He gets plenty of assists. He is always in attacking positions – he has looked really good in the Champions League as well. Sporting have excelled, in the last couple of seasons, in the Champions League, and under Ruben Amorim, he has gone up a level.

“If you look at how important wing-backs are to Antonio Conte, he is the kind of guy that would be perfect for them.”

SHOULD LEVY BACK CONTE AGAIN?

Tottenham are at a crossroad and it’s not looking great. Conte has been backed during the past two transfer windows, yet he hasn’t signed a new deal yet.

Why would you want to back a manager that could easily leave in the summer? Equally, Conte himself is proven, so if Spurs want that trophy, then they can’t allow two coaches – the Italian and previously Jose Mourinho – to walk out with nothing to their name.

This is a huge month for Tottenham and it wouldn’t be a surprise if no player does arrive that Conte is out of the door by the time the final ball is kicked in May.
