Can Aston Villa reverse their woeful run? They are without a win in 2017 and face a Barnsley side who will be highly motivated to beat them after losing James Bree and Conor Hourihane in January. On paper Villa should win, but you could say that for their past few matches.

Villa’s dismal run cannot last forever, right? It is five defeats in six under Steve Bruce, with Ipswich netting the winner from their only shot on target at the weekend. However, Barnsley may be solid at the back but the loss of Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane, to Villa, has rendered them somewhat toothless. It will be tight but Villa will get back to winning ways at last.

A difficult game to call at Villa Park. Villa are completely out of sorts and now without a win in 8 games, whilst Barnsley have failed to win in 3. It could easily be another defeat for Villa the way they are playing, but the Tykes lost a number of key players in the January window (including 2 to Villa), so a draw is probably the most likely result.

Aston Villa’s next victory cannot come soon enough. The problem is they are struggling big time and confidence is low despite Steve Bruce’s appointment. With Barnsley pushing for a play-off spot I can see a score draw here.

Villa are in dire form at the moment, and can’t buy a win. Barnsley seem to be dealing well with their January departures and picked up a credible away draw at Reading. Everyone is expecting Villa to go on a run, but I don’t think it will start here.
