Tottenham Hotspur signing Dejan Kulusevski has been on the cards since early on in his loan.
Spurs brought the Swedish winger to North London on loan from Juventus in January but it’s been obvious for months that this is someone Antonio Conte is going to want for the long term.
Kulusevski scored five goals and created another eight in 18 Premier League appearances since arriving from Italy.
For someone with no experience of English football, he has adapted like a duck to water – and Fabio Paratici is about to pull a masterstroke.
Clever decision
He is one of two loanees who Tottenham wanted to make permanent this summer.
Thing is, Cristian Romero will set the Lilywhites’ back a cool £42 million and with another £30 million to be spent on Kulusevski, well that right there is half of the £150 million that ENIC injected into the club earlier this week.
And this is the clever bit because that, if true, frees up a big chunk of money for Spurs to use on another area, whilst keeping the Juventus winger at the same time.
Kulusevski is definitely going to be a permanent signing in North London eventually, but perhaps not for another year and by delaying it 12 months, Paratici will leave Conte with a bit more freedom in the transfer window than he would’ve had otherwise.
