A lot of rumours have been circulating about Liverpool making a move for Brazilian prospect Allan Elias lately.

Earlier this week, reports out of Brazil from The Football suggested that Liverpool were close to finalising a deal for the Palmeiras forward.

The report also mentioned that the deal could be completed in the next few weeks, with an expected fee of around €35m.

That would be quite a figure, especially considering he has an £87m release clause in his current Palmeiras contract.

But recent updates suggest that reports of an imminent agreement may have been premature.

Brazilian outlet iG Esporte have provided a further update on the situation, saying: “Allan, 21, has been the target of strong interest from the European market.

“However, according to reporting by iG Esporte, Palmeiras has no agreement or advanced negotiations at the moment for the sale of the attacking midfielder, who has been linked to Liverpool in recent days. “

They add that while Allan could move at some point, a potential transfer is not expected to take place until after the 2026 World Cup is over this summer.

Palmeiras still consider him an important part of the squad and rejected an offer from Napoli for the player in the winter transfer window.

Palmeiras boss weighs in on Allan transfer speculation

Allan, now 21, has made 64 appearances for the club, tallying five goals and six assists.

He’s already been involved in ten matches this season, and after a recent game, Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira spoke out against selling the player linked with Liverpool.

“Palmeiras is now able to decide when to sell players. We’re working with the finance team and the board. The coach’s role goes beyond just what happens on the pitch.”
