Paul Merson has urged Arsenal to sign either Tammy Abraham or Gabriel Jesus when the summer transfer window re-opens.

The TV pundit added that, without one of those signings, it’s going to be a ‘long and hard season’ next term for Mikel Arteta and Co.

Arsenal ended the 2021/22 Premier League campaign with a return to Europe, but the Europa League and not Champions League football.

That difference in competition could have a big bearing on what type of player Arsenal can land when the transfer window officially opens.

The obvious area of concern is the striker, as Merson told Sky Sports News that one of Jesus or Abraham would do the job.

“They have to make sure they get a forward,” said Merson. “That would probably be Jesus or Abraham at Roma.

“I think one of them two has to come in. I think without one of them two, it’s going to be a long hard season next season.”

ARSENAL INTERESTED IN ABRAHAM AND JESUS

Well, it does seem as though Arsenal are fishing in and around that market because they are interested in Abraham and Jesus

Even though Jesus scored 13 goals in all competitions this season and won the Premier League title with Manchester City.

He could be looking to leave, especially with his game time possibly reducing with the arrival of Erling Haaland next season.

Whereas Abraham is enjoying his best football over in Italy, netting 17 Serie A goals with Roma and, as a result, breaking the record for most goals scored by an Englishman in a single season in Italy.
