Jurgen Klopp is stepping down as the Liverpool manager at the end of the season, and the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are already looking for a suitable successor.
Liverpool are having a wonderful season. The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup. The Merseyside club could clinch the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp has already announced that he will leave as the Liverpool manager at the end of the season, and the players must be looking to send him off with a fairytale season.
Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are also planning for life beyond Klopp. Michael Edwards has already returned to Anfield in a senior role, while Richard Hughes is the new Sporting Director.
Xabi Alonso is on the radar of Liverpool. The former Spain international midfielder is doing extremely well as the manager of Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer could beat Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga this season. Interestingly, defending German champions Bayern honorary president, Uli Hoeness, has said that the Bavarian giants are looking at the 42-year-old manager.
Ally McCoist gives his verdict on Liverpool and Bayern Munich target Xabi Alonso
Former Rangers and Scotland international striker Ally McCoist has given his verdict on the future of Alonso.
The talkSPORT pundit thinks that Alonso could decide to take the Bayern Munich job and turn down a potential move to Liverpool.

McCoist said about Alonso on talkSPORT (6:50 am, March 22, 2024): “I understand the pull of Liverpool, I get it, however, he might think it is just not the right time, he might fancy a bit of Bayern before.”
Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour noted: “Well, he has had contact with both, hasn’t he? He has played for Bayern and he has played for Liverpool, and he had a lot of respect for Liverpool when he played there. He really enjoyed being there, I could tell, when he was playing.
“So, it’s a great opportunity, you know, to see him go back to Liverpool, and he’s probably the big, big choice now. He has got a massive decision to make because he is flying in Leverkusen.”
My View: Liverpool could be able to convince Xabi Alonso
In my opinion, Liverpool could be able to convince Xabi Alonso to succeed Jurgen Klopp as the manager of the Merseyside club in the summer of 2024.
Yes, Bayern Munich are a massive club, but so are Liverpool. I think that if Liverpool came calling for Alonso, then he would take it.
After all, Liverpool have a very good squad and have some world-class players like Mohamed Salah, Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
