Liverpool hammered Sparta Prague away from home on Thursday evening, and one of the best players for Jurgen Klopp’s side was Darwin Nunez.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool eased past Sparta Prague 5-1 away from home in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie on Thursday evening.
Darwin Nunez was the star of the show. The Uruguay international striker scored two goals.
Liverpool manager Klopp has raved about the striker and has said that the 24-year-old is not at his best yet.

Nunez has made 16 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool this season.
The 24-year-old striker has scored 10 goals and given seven assists in those games. Nunez has also scored four goals and provided one assist in four starts and three substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League for the Merseyside club. He has impressed opposition teams.
Jurgen Klopp comments on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website when asked about Nunez’s recent form and goals: “He had an absolutely more-than-OK first season but he had to adapt, that’s done, [he is] settled in the middle of the team. Wonderful guy, wonderful boy, loves to play for this team and this club together with these boys, and he has quality coming out of his ears, to be honest.
“But it’s like strikers are: sometimes they score, sometimes they don’t score. Is he already at his absolute peak in general? Not now for us, and can he develop? Yes. Is he a threat all the time? Yes, as well. And he has the most important attitude a striker needs to have – he misses chances, which all strikers are doing, but he is not really bothered by it.
“He just keeps going and that is why he has now a nice number of goals. There are still games to come, opportunities to score. Even when he is not scoring, he is for us incredibly important because he is just a constant threat and gives us some spaces in areas and options to use.”
My View: Darwin Nunez hitting form at the right time
In my opinion, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is hitting form at the right time. We are coming up to the business end of the season, and the striker is banging in the goals for fun at the moment.
Liverpool have already won the Carabao Cup this season. The Reds are now looking to clinch the Premier League, the UEFA Europa League and the FA Cup.
It is going to be hard for the Reds to do that, but they are in a very good position at the moment.
