Luton Town boss Rob Edwards needs no introduction to the ‘incredible’ talent of Mo Salah as the Liverpool talisman looks to make his return to a Premier League starting XI at Anfield tonight.
Manchester United’s hard-fought 2-1 win at Kenilworth Road on Sunday may have been far-from-convincing. But when you consider how Luton Town have gone about their business against the Premier League’s big hitters over the last few months, that Rasmus Hojlund-inspired victory feels a lot more impressive than it may look to casual observers.
Manchester City needed to come back from 1-0 down to defeat Rob Edwards’ hard-working side. Arsenal, meanwhile, relied upon a stoppage time Declan Rice winner. Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea defeated Luton by the odd goal too, while only Luis Diaz’s heroics denied The Hatters a famous win over Liverpool at the start of November.
Jurgen Klopp’s league leaders face Luton again on Wednesday night. And it’s fair to say Mo Salah’s potential return to The Reds XI could certainly have come at a better time, as far as Edwards is concerned.
Mo Salah back in time for Liverpool vs Luton Town

“We’ll expect him to play,” Edwards tells Luton Today, Salah coming off the bench to score one and set up another in Saturday’s 4-1 thrashing of Brentford.
“He’s an incredible player. One of the best in the league. One of the best the league’s ever seen. So, it will be a good challenge for us to go up against him if he’s playing.”
Salah has 19 goals and 10 assists in another stellar season, despite missing a number of games through injury and international duty. Salah is hardly the only Liverpool dangerman, however, even if Klopp’s roster is weakened by the injuries to Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.
Liverpool can go four points clear of Man City again
“They’re Liverpool Football Club, and they’re going to have good players everywhere,” Edwards adds. “From the under 18s, the 21s, right the way through.
“They’re going to have a big squad that’s full of talent, full of depth, so that doesn’t surprise me. They trust their players, and (Klopp) is not afraid to put young players in or change things up if they need be as they just go and do what they do, play their way.
“Whatever team he puts out will be very, very good. No doubt about that.”
Man City cut the gap to Liverpool on Tuesday, Erling Haaland putting those Chelsea misses in the rearview mirror with a superb second-half winner against Brentford. Luton, meanwhile, will move out of the relegation zone if they can grab a hard-earned point on Merseyside.
