Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are now reportedly facing competition from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes.

According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle United are interested in signing Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes, who is on the radar of Manchester United as well.

West Ham United “like” Barnes, too, according to the report.

Leicester City want £40 million in transfer fees for the England international winger, described as “unbelievable” by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in Metro in February 2021.

We have covered Newcastle’s interest before on many occasions here on HITC Sport.

However, it seems that now Manchester United have joined the race for the 25-year-old winger.

Should Newcastle United worry about Manchester United threat regarding Harvey Barnes?

In our opinion, Newcastle United need not worry too much about a potential move from Manchester United for Harvey Barnes.

The Daily Mail have reported that the Red Devils “like” Barnes, but it is the Magpies “have done the groundwork”.

The Northern Echo reported last weekend that Newcastle are in advanced talks over a move for the 25-year-old, and that the winger himself is “keen to join” the Magpies.

So, if Newcastle now step up their pursuit of the winger and agree a deal with Leicester, then they should be able to sign Barnes before Manchester United.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail have reported that Newcastle are interested in Lyon defender Sael Kumbedi.
