Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United hope to complete a deal for Harvey Barnes of Leicester City next week, according to a report.

The Sun (print edition, page 67, July 8, 2023) have reported that Newcastle United are interested in signing Harvey Barnes from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Newcastle hope to “seal a deal next week” and beat West Ham United and Aston Villa to the signature of the 25-year-old England international winger.

Newcastle are reportedly ready to pay £35 million in transfer fees for Barnes, who, according to former Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers in The Chronicle in July 2022, has “a wonderful attitude” and “a very humble boy”.

According to The Sun (print edition, page 67, July 8, 2023), the signing of Barnes could spell the end of fellow winger Allan Saint-Maximin at Newcastle.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia are reportedly interested in Saint-Maximin.

Could Newcastle United sign Harvey Barnes from Leicester City?

In our opinion, that Newcastle United are hopeful of a deal for Harvey Barnes next week is very good and exciting news for the fans.

It seems that Barnes could become a Newcastle player soon.

The England international is one of the best wingers around, and he is only 25.

Barnes made 32 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Leicester last season.

The Leicester no. 7 scored 13 goals and gave one assist in those games.

Leicester will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.

The Foxes are unlikely to stop Barnes from leaving for Newcastle, who will play in the UEFA Champions League next season and will also aim to finish in the Premier League top four.
