Newcastle United want Alexander Isak and have held talks through intermediaries – but Real Sociedad seem reluctant to let him leave.
The Magpies have done a great job of bolstering Eddie Howe’s back line with the additions of goalkeeper Nick Pope and centre back Sven Botman.
Add in the permanent deal for loanee left back Matt Targett and Newcastle look to be in a great place defensively.
Now it’s all about adding attacking quality with Newcastle in the market for a new goalscorer.
Chris Wood wasn’t really in the goals after his January move whilst Callum Wilson’s injury problems are well-documented.
Newcastle United want Alexander Isak
Newcastle need to find another striker and Real Sociedad hitman Isak is emerging as a top target.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that Isak’s name keeps coming up in Newcastle’s transfer meetings.
The Telegraph then suggested that Newcastle were considering launching a club-record bid to sign Isak.
90Min now suggest that Newcastle have held talks about a deal for Isak through intermediary agents as they look to find out if a move is actually possible.
Isak may have been hailed as an ‘exceptional’ talent by Gary Lineker but he only scored six times in 32 league games last season.
Much more is expected of the 22-year-old and his potential is still very enticing.

Tall, strong, quick and able to beat defenders with his dribbling, you can certainly see Isak developing into the complete package one day.
Newcastle seemingly agree with that verdict but signing Isak won’t be easy.
Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay is quoted as saying that the club have no plans to sell weither Isak or Mikel Merino – ironically, a former Newcastle player.
Isak signed a new contract in January that includes a release clause worth around £76million, which is surely beyond Newcastle this summer.
If Sociedad still to that release clause, it’s hard to see Isak joining Newcastle – even with PIF’s financial backing.
