Aston Villa’s newest signing Amadou Onana has explained the impact that Unai Emery had on his decision to move to the Midlands.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa achieved qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the Premier League era and the club have been busy this summer.
Villa signed Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen last month, following the Dutchman’s successful loan at Borussia Dortmund as the German giants reached the Champions League final.
Luton Town midfielder Ross Barkley has also moved to Villa Park, and he could be a very underrated signing for the Midlands club.

Villa’s latest signing Onana explains decision to move to club
Villa’s latest signing this summer is Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana, who HITC reported that the Villains had paid £50 million for the former LOSC Lille midfielder.
Onana will be a replacement for Douglas Luiz, as the Brazilian midfielder completed a move to Juventus with the Villains receiving two players in return.
The Belgian made a big impact at Goodison Park and the 22-year-old will be hoping to make a similar impact at Villa.
“It was a bit of everything,” Onana told Villa’s website. “There’s a healthy atmosphere here to grow as a player and as a man.
“The team played very attractive football last season with loads of goals and will now be playing in the Champions League.
“I’ll be playing in the Champions League again and that’s very exciting. We also have a manager that’s one of the best in the business and I think he can take my game to the next level.”
Onana explains which Villa ace convinced him of move
As well as Emery’s influence on the Belgian midfielder, Onana has explained that Youri Tielemans, who moved to Villa Park last summer, was also influential.
“Youri played a big part in me being here because he told me lots of good stuff about the club,” he said.
“He’s someone I’m used to playing with in the national team, so I’m looking forward to training with him on a daily basis.”
Onana is certainly a unique player for Villa and the signing of the Belgian could well be one of the best pieces of business done this summer.
