Arsenal fans will be hoping that their club will make some late moves in the summer transfer market.
The likes of Chelsea, West Ham United and Aston Villa have dominated the window so far by bringing in a host of players.
But Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side have been fairly quiet, with only a few major deals concluded by the London club ahead of the window slamming shut at the end of the month.
Riccardo Calafiori was the standout signing for Arsenal, whilst Emile Smith Rowe left to join Marco Silva’s Fulham.
But Darren Bent thinks there is one deal Arsenal can still conclude and it’s a transfer he would very much push for and like to see.
Chelsea probably have the biggest squad in the Premier League and they have signed every player under the sun – and they don’t seem to be stopping.
Pedro Neto recently joined Chelsea and he adds to the already loaded wide areas at Stamford Bridge, as you have to question if that will now result in someone leaving.
Bent put forward the name of Raheem Sterling and how he would happily accept him in Arsenal colours.
The former striker stated that ‘people talk about Sterling like he is 35’, when he is actually 29 and supposed to be at the peak of his powers.
Ever since the four-time Premier League winner swapped Manchester City for Chelsea in 2022, things have gone very wrong for the player and his club.
Despite that, Bent would still ‘take him’ at the Emirates, so he can battle with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for starting spots, as he told talkSPORT.
Raheem Sterling at Arsenal
“And he is only 29,” said Bent. “I think I would take him at Arsenal, Sterling. I would take him.
Playing Sterling on the left at Arsenal: “I tell you what?! He is only 29! I am not saying he starts every game, but to have him. Not instead of (Martinelli) because they have to compete for that position.
On Martinelli or Sterling: “As it stands right now, Martinelli. But, come on! Sterling on the left, he is only 29, people talk about Sterling like he is 35. He has been in the game for a long time.”

Arsenal to make final touches to transfer window
That striker probably won’t arrive. Ivan Toney has been long linked to Arsenal, but you can wave that goodbye now.
The Brentford man might not even get a move at all because Tottenham have signed Dominic Solanke and you wonder what will be his next destination.

Either way, sources have told HITC when Arsenal want the Mikel Merino deal done, with the Euro 2024 winner closing in on a move to the Emirates.
That could be the final signing of Arsenal’s transfer window, unless there are any big movers, in terms of outgoings, at the club.
