Mike Tyson presented the best single-game performance of the year award at the ESPYs with Jake Paul and DJ Khaled, but what he said after has fans talking.
One of the biggest nights in American sports just wrapped up, as the 2026 ESPYs have come to a conclusion.
While several athletes were honored and recognized, one moment involving Mike Tyson has now earned a lot of focus from fans.

Mike Tyson was shocked to find out Shohei Ohtani was ‘a guy’ at 2026 ESPYs
At the 2026 ESPY awards, Mike Tyson was joined by his former boxing rival, Jake Paul, and DJ Khaled to present the award for the best single-game performance last season.
Tyson announced the winner was Shohei Ohtani for his legendary performance in Game 4 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ohtani had the performance of a lifetime, striking out 10 batters, while also delivering three home runs with the bat in his hand.
However, Ohtani wasn’t available to accept the award in person, which Paul announced to the crowd. As the music played, the trio off the stage, Mike Tyson asked one surprising question:
“Shohei is a guy?”
It appears the legendary boxer was not familiar with the Japanese sensation, thinking that he was a female athlete – despite the award being for the best men’s single-game performance.
Shohei Ohtani continues to cement himself as one of baseball’s all-time greats
At this point in his career, Ohtani is comfortably the best player in baseball today. But the list of accolades he has collected has elevated him into a different stratosphere.
When he wraps up his career, Ohtani will be spoken about in the same breath as some of baseball’s all-time greats like Derek Jeter, Barry Bonds, and many more.
It is truly amazing to see how much of an impact Ohtani has made on American baseball in the short time he has been in the MLB.
What makes his success even more terrifying for rival fans of the LA Dodgers is that he isn’t anywhere close to the end of his career.
