After winning the 2025 World Series back in November, the Los Angeles Dodgers never made it to the White House, as is custom.

The team cited a busy schedule as the primary reason for the decision, but there were some suggestions that the decision might have been political.

But they have been dispelled, and now Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers are set to make the trip to Washington DC, right in the middle of the MLB season.

LA Dodgers release statement regarding White House visit

Dodgers reporter Jack Harris took to X on Thursday to share the news that the team will be at the White House on the 23rd of July, an off-day on their New York/Philly road trip. This visit is to “honor last year’s World Series title.”

A team statement was also shared, with the Dodgers writing: “”As was the case one year ago, the Dodgers’ upcoming visits to the White House and Capitol Hill follow the longtime tradition of visits by other World Series champions.

“We appreciate these tributes in recognition of our back-to-back championships.”

The Dodgers can afford to take the detour. With a 65% win rate this season, they boast the best record in the league again and look almost certain to return to the World Series.

It’s fair to say this is unlikely to be their last visit to the White House.

There is the wider concern to address, though. Many Dodgers fans have been very vocal about their disapproval of visiting the president. The relationship between this administration and Californians has been strained by recent events, it’s fair to say.

It seems, though, the team is going with tradition rather than politics.
