England play their final game of the Euro 2024 group stage on Tuesday night, taking on Slovenia after two less-than-convincing performances.
Gareth Southgate’s men came into the tournament as one of the favourites to go all the way.
Beaten finalists at Euro 2020, England have been built up as a team who could go the distance against Europe’s elite.
Yet after two group stage games, England have been immensely disappointing.
Beating Serbia 1-0 at least saw England get off the mark with a victory, but the performance wasn’t anything to write home about.
England then turned in a drab display against Denmark, limping to a 1-1 draw when the Danes could have easily taken all three points.
Southgate’s side looks disjointed and unbalanced, leaving him with major problems to resolve before facing Slovenia in Koln.

Micah Richards and Alan Shearer on Marc Guehi
Few England players have really come away with much praise so far this summer.
Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka have had their moments but are arguably still a little short of their best.
The man who has impressed the most though is Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
England went into the competition with major issues at centre back and doubts over whether Guehi could step up and shine alongside John Stones.
Guehi has arguably been England’s most impressive performer in both games, showing an impressive reading of the game.
Now looking to establish himself as an England starter not just for now but for the future, Guehi is receiving major praise.
Micah Richards and Alan Shearer have now hailed Guehi on The Rest Is Football, suggesting that he has been ‘outstanding’ and ‘excellent’ so far.
Shearer was specially drew attention to the conversations around England’s struggles at the back, believing that Guehi can be proud of how he has stepped up.
“Guehi has been outstanding hasn’t he?” said Richards.
“I thought he was excellent in the first game. The second game… yeah, I think he was maybe the best of a bad bunch so yeah, particularly when there was so much talk about Harry Maguire not playing and England struggling in that position, I think he’s done really well, he can be pleased with himself,” added Shearer.
Guehi race about to heat up
Palace will be delighted with Guehi’s displays, representing the Eagles admirably on the big stage.
Yet the performances may only serve to increase the interest around Guehi as the transfer window gets moving.
HITC understands that a number of Premier League clubs are interested in signing Guehi this summer.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all keen on Guehi and could launch offers in the coming weeks.
Guehi is now shining at Euro 2024 and having shown his ability at this level, those Premier League suitors may be more interested than ever before.
