Arsenal fans will be hoping for some much-needed quality when the summer transfer re-opens on Friday.
The Gunners are in a very strong position, in terms of Mikel Arteta’s side being an easy sell because they are the second-best team in England and how they can sell players to make some financial room.
If you asked Arsenal fans what is their priority position ahead of the new Premier League season, they would all probably agree that a number nine of some sort is needed.
This is despite Arsenal being the second-highest goalscorers during the most recently concluded campaign and having players like Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka hit double figures.
But one man who Arteta won’t be getting his hands on this summer is RB Leipzig forward, Benjamin Sesko.
The 21-year-old was wanted by Arsenal, as HITC previously revealed, but he has now signed a new contract until 2029.
It’s a body blow for those interested parties and it means Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for someone to fill their striker role.
Kevin Hatchard thinks Sesko’s decision to stay at Leipzig isn’t just a ‘massive boost’ to his team, but Germany’s top-tier as a whole, as he posted on Twitter.
The Bundesliga commentator thinks the ‘complete forward’ will develop further by staying with Marco Rose’s side.
Arsenal transfer target Benjamin Sesko signs new RB Leipzig contract
“Massive boost for RB Leipzig and the Bundesliga, if Benjamin Sesko signs a new deal,” said Hatchard.
“Lots of Premier League interest, including Arsenal. And his release clause is reasonable. I do think another year of regular starts under Marco Rose would help him develop.”

What next for Arsenal in goalscorer search?
Arteta could argue that he doesn’t need another number nine and his team have enough goals in them to win the title.
It was those small details that cost them the title. Perhaps they should have tried to win at the Etihad rather than play for a draw.

Losing home and away to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa was a killer, including picking up only one point against Fulham.
Arsenal are getting closer, it’s just a matter of turning a few results around and they might just get over that line.
