Reported Leeds United managerial target Steven Gerrard wants to take charge of Southampton, according to 90min.
Leeds managerial target Steven Gerrard eyes Southampton job
90min have reported that Liverpool legend Gerrard, who has been linked with Leeds, is interested in replacing Nathan Jones as the Southampton manager.
The Saints have sacked Jones as their boss and are on the hunt for a new manager.
90min have claimed that intermediaries from Gerrard’s camp have been in touch with Southampton to let them know of the former Rangers and Aston Villa manager’s interest in the role at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The former England international midfielder was sacked by Villa earlier this season.
Interestingly, Gerrard has been linked with the vacant managerial role at Leeds as well.

Leeds interest
The Mirror have reported that Leeds are interested in appointing Gerrard as their manager and could move for him.
Jesse Marsch was recently sacked as the West Yorkshire club’s manager.
Like Southampton, Leeds are also in grave danger of getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
The Mirror suggested that Gerrard would be keen on going to Leeds, as the former Rangers boss wants to manage in the Premier League again and prove that he can be a success in the English top flight after his failure with Villa.
Leeds are now reportedly holding talks with former Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder.
Have the Whites moved on from Gerrard?
Maybe.
