Leeds United are considering appointing Steven Gerrard as their new manager with Gary McAllister believed to be a major factor.
That’s according to The Mirror, who claim that Gerrard would link up with McAllister again if he lands the Leeds job.
The pair worked together at Rangers and Aston Villa, so a reunion would make perfect sense.
It’s suggested that the the Whites hierarchy have been discussing the McAllister factor and the possible importance of him working with Gerrard.
The report claims that Gerrard and McAllister are ‘desperate’ to prove themselves in the Premier League having lost their jobs at Villa.
Leeds had targeted the likes of Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot, but rejections on all three fronts make Gerrard a real candidate.
When you add in the influence of McAllister, Gerrard’s hopes of heading to Elland Road may well be rising by the day.

Gary McAllister’s history with Leeds United amid Steven Gerrard connection
McAllister would surely jump at the chance to return to Elland Road.
The Scot joined Leeds as a player back in 1990 having impressed with Leicester City and hometown club Motherwell.
McAllister racked up more than 200 league appearances for Leeds before leaving for Coventry City in 1996.
A return to Leeds materialised in 2008 as McAllister became manager at Elland Road, but he lasted less than a year in charge.
McAllister did guide Leeds to the League One playoff final but that was his last managerial job.
The 58-year-old has been in assistant manager roles for a number of years now and returned to the game alongside Gerrard in 2018.
McAllister would surely love another return to Leeds and whilst other targets may be in mind for the Whites, Gerrard and McAllister are available right now – and they may become increasingly appealing as other candidates are ruled out.
