PSV Eindhoven coach Peter Bosz accepts that Ibrahim Sangare ‘can still leave’ this month with Nottingham Forest hoping to lure the midfielder to the Premier League.

Steve Cooper’s side have been relatively quiet this summer – at least in comparison to last summer’s record-breaking recruitment drive – but there could still be plenty of movement in the final three weeks of the window.

Nottingham Forest still want a left-back and a goalkeeper. A new centre-forward may also be required, especially after they failed to hit the net in five of their seven pre-season games.

According to The Athletic, meanwhile, powerhouse Ivorian Ibrahim Sangare remains at the very top of Forest’s wishlist. The two-time European Champions are willing to trigger the £32 million release clause in his contract, although competition from Paris Saint-Germain should pose a test to the extent of the Premier League’s allure.

Nottingham Forest could make big Ibrahim Sangare move

Former Lyon and Borussia Dortmund coach Bosz, meanwhile, is hoping to still have Sangare at his disposal as PSV look to reclaim the Eredivisie title ahead of Feyenoord and Ajax in 2023/24.

But he knows that Sangare may struggle to turn down offers should they arrive.

“He can still leave, that’s right. We all know that,” Bosz tells Voetbal Primeur. “I think he plays well. He is not distracted by what might be going on.

“But I hope he will be kept.”

According to Eindhovens Dagblad, Nottingham Forest made an opening offer for Sangare in July. Albeit one which fell substantially short of PSV’s demands. The Dutch giants are unwilling to let the former Toulouse enforcer go for less than his eye-watering release clause.

“He is the king of PSV,” club legend Aad De Mos said of Sangare in 2022.

“Sangare is not only suitable for (a club like) Leicester. He can also easily join an even higher club. He can easily play at Tottenham and certainly also at Arsenal.

“Sangare is a great player. I think 35 million euros is a good price. He would be first on the team sheet for any of those teams (Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs).

“You need someone like that, who takes the ball and always puts the boot in. And, lately, he has also become dangerous in the opposition penalty area.”
