Tottenham Hotspur continued their 100% winning record in pre-season friendlies this summer by beating Team K League on Wednesday afternoon.

The new Premier League season is just around the corner and Tottenham Hotspur have been racking up the wins in pre-season.

Yes, they are only friendlies, but Ange Postecoglou will be delighted with wins over Heart of Midlothian, Queens Park Rangers and Vissel Kobe.

Tottenham won again on Wednesday afternoon, beating Team K League – a collection of the top players in South Korea.

Son Heung-min grabbed a brace after Dejan Kulusevski’s opener, with Will Lankshear scoring what proved to be the winner.

A 4-3 win means Tottenham continue a strong pre-season run, even if fans may have hoped to see some slightly tighter defending.

Ange Postecoglou on Lucas Bergvall

Tottenham went with a very youthful midfield against Team K League.

21-year-old Pape Matar Sarr was the elder statesman of the engine room as he started alongside two 18-year-olds.

New arrivals Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray joined Sarr in the side, meaning Tottenham’s midfield trio had an average age of 19.

Postecoglou has raved about Sarr’s performance, believing that he is setting the standard for Tottenham midfielders.

The Spurs boss has been a little more measured about Bergvall though as he spoke to Football London following the final whistle in Seoul.

Postecoglou suggested that Bergvall ‘found it tough’ in terms of the physicality of the game.

Postecoglou accepts that Bergvall was playing a ‘very demanding role’ in the Spurs engine room but it’s clear that Tottenham have work to do in terms of building him up physically.

The Australian still loves that he has seen from Bergvall on the ball, believing that his quality is clear for all to see.

“I think Lucas found it tough physically. It’s a very demanding role in there and it’s going to take us a while to get him up to speed from a physical perspective, but you can see the quality he has when he’s on the ball,” said Postecoglou.

Bergvall expectations may need to be tempered

There has been huge excitement around Bergvall ever since he signed on the dotted line for Tottenham.

Bergvall rejected a move to Barcelona in favour of joining Tottenham, agreeing to sign back in February.

The hype has been building; Destiny Udogie has called Bergvall ‘starboy’ and Tottenham fans are looking to see him make a big impact.

The reality is that Bergvall is still only 18 and is coming in from Djurgarden with the Premier League a major step up from Allsvenskan.

Bergvall needs time to build himself up physically and adjust to the demands of playing under Postecoglou.

The Spurs boss needs everybody at full tilt and the physical demands are enormous, especially on an 18-year-old.

Bergvall just needs time to get up to speed with the rest of the Tottenham squad and expectations may need to be tempered as he settles in.
