Darren Bent has claimed that it would have been ‘incredible’ if Liverpool signed Kylian Mbappe, after Erling Haaland walked through the doors at Manchester City.
The former striker added that Mbappe’s new contract at PSG doesn’t sit well with him because of the ‘power’ he has been given, rather than the increase in wages.
Real Madrid were hoping to sign the World Cup winner, but instead, he stayed put in Paris, with the player sharing that he spoke with Liverpool.
Whilst one of Europe’s top strikers remains in France’s capital, the champions of England will have his rival on their books in Haaland after his transfer from Dortmund.
Nonetheless, this is what Bent told talkSPORT about Mbappe’s contract and he would have loved to have seen him at Anfield.
“You will never hear me criticise a player for getting as much as he can, fair enough,” said Bent.
“But I don’t like the whole power thing. I can’t get my head around that. Him making decisions on signings. Managers. I don’t think that’s good for the game.
“I would have also have loved to have seen him in the Premier League at Liverpool. Could you imagine Haaland walks through the door at Manchester City?
“And then Mbappe walks through the door at Liverpool? I think it would have been incredible. He’s still young, so I still expect him to go to one of the top, top European leagues.”

MBAPPE TO LIVERPOOL IN YEARS TO COME?
There is no doubt that Madrid will be fuming at Mbappe staying in Paris and seemingly snubbing their approach – La Liga have filed a complaint.
But, in years to come, when the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are heading into their mid-30’s, could Mbappe be an option for the Reds?
Jurgen Klopp has signed a new deal, so he is here for another few years yet, so it can’t be ruled out.
It would be something if Mbappe is the one to be Salah’s replacement because the Frenchman staying in Paris has certainly increased those chances.
