Liverpool attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho looks set to join Championship side Hull City this month.

HITC Football understands that Fabio Carvalho has agreed a deal to join the Tigers.

Initially signed by Jurgen Klopp’s side for £5m after leaving Fulham in 2022, an old partnership might make a move to the MKM Stadium the ideal choice.

Hull is the perfect destination for Liverpool’s Carvalho

It’s safe to say that Fabio Carvalho’s move to Anfield hasn’t worked out thus far.

Initially given his chance by Scott Parker at Fulham, it was his incredible campaign under Marco Silva that caught Liverpool’s attention.

Fulham stormed to the Championship title, with Carvalho playing 36 times, scoring ten goals and providing seven assists.

He linked up impressively with Aleksandar Mitrovic but the club knew the end of his contract was looming.

Carvalho refused to sign a new deal and Liverpool pounced, picking up one of the most exciting youngsters in the top two divisions for a cut-price fee.

However, he only managed four league starts last season for Klopp’s side and a loan move to RB Leipzig didn’t go to plan.

Carvalho needs six months out of the spotlight to rediscover best form

The 21-year-old arrived in Germany hoping for the opportunity to play in the Champions League and take part in a Bundesliga title race.

Unfortunately, Carvalho arrived in Germany at the start of the transfer window before Xavi Simons made the switch at the end of the window and has been Leipzig’s main creative outlet.

Carvalho managed a single league start before being recalled by Liverpool and now Hull look set to benefit from his return.

Playing in the Championship might suit Carvalho and give him plenty of confidence going into next season.

He already knows he’s done it at this level and could help Liam Rosenior’s team kick on towards the play-offs.

Hull benefitting from Liverpool connection

HITC Football understands that a conversation between Carvalho and another former Fulham man Liam Rosenior ended up making his mind up on his next destination.

His fellow Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton is already at the club and has done very well at the Tigers.

The most high-profile transfer between the two clubs is that of Andy Robertson, who has gone on to be one of the best left-backs in Liverpool’s history.

Herbie Kane, Harry Wilson and Lazar Markovic have all also made temporary switches between the two sides.

One player could hold key to Carvalho’s success on loan

Liverpool will be well aware of what Hull can offer Carvalho because of how Morton is faring there this season.

However, a player who could unlock the best out of the Portuguese is fellow midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

The 32-year-old played an equally key role in Fulham’s promotion season, playing behind Carvalho in midfield.

Morton will play the Harrison Reed role in this trio and it’s a combination that has already been proven to work in the second tier.

If Morton and Carvalho can combine well over the next few months, they could both give Klopp something to think about in pre-season.
