Tuttosport reported this week that Liverpool are interested in bringing Andrea Belotti to Anfield in the summer transfer window.

As covered by HITC Sport, Liverpool are among the clubs who are showing interest in Belotti.

The Italy international striker is at the top of his game at the moment and is one of the best players in his position in Serie A.

According to WhoScored, Belotti has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 29 Serie A starts this season.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the 27-year-old scored 16 goals and gave three assists in the league, and scored 15 goals and gave three assists in the league in 2018-19, according to WhoScored.

Belotti is a highly-rated striker, and among those who like him is former Manchester City and Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini.

Mancini has been in charge of Italy since 2018, and the Italian has been impressed by his compatriot.

Gazzetta dello Sport quoted Mancini as saying in March 2020, as translated by HITC Sport: “Belotti has always worked like crazy, maybe too much!”

Encouraging comments

Mancini’s comments should encourage Liverpool fans. Manager Jurgen Klopp wants his forwards to work hard, and Belotti does just that.

Mohamed Salah is banging in the goals for fun this season, but Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis.

True, Diogo Jota has done well when he has not been injured, but there is still a case to be made that Klopp could do with freshening up his squad.

Torino are in real danger of going down to Serie B at the moment, and it is hard to see the Italian club keep hold of Belotti beyond this summer.

It would make sense for Liverpool to try to sign Belotti this summer, but only at the right price.
