Among the players Liverpool have been linked is Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior. Diario Madridista reported in January 2021 that Liverpool are among the clubs who are monitoring the Brazilian with a view to a summer move, as covered by HITC Sport.

The 20-year-old was struggling at the time, but the youngster has been superb in the second half of the season. In fact, Vinicius Junior scored twice against Liverpool to knock them out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

Ahead of the second leg at Anfield earlier this month, Liverpool manager told the club’s official YouTube channel that the Brazil international is “an outstanding talent” who has “improved”, as covered by HITC Sport.

While Mohamed Salah has been banging in the goals for fun for Liverpool this season, fellow forwards Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have struggled, and there is a case to be made that Klopp could do with freshening up his attack-line.

Vinicius Junior is only 20 and would make Liverpool stronger in attack, but if his latest comments about his future are anything to go by, then it appears that he is happy at Madrid and does not want to leave.

The winger told Cadena Cope, as transcribed by Football Espana: “This is the best team in the world and I am very happy to be here.

“Everyone loves me and does everything possible to help me. To score those two goals in such an important match (against Liverpool) and getting the team into the semi-final of the biggest competition in the world is the best feeling.”

Real Madrid stay or Liverpool transfer?

Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in the world and could win La Liga and the Champions League this season.

With Vinicius Junior having established himself as an important player in head coach Zinedine Zidane’s side, there is no reason for him to leave for Liverpool this summer.

According to WhoScored, the 20-year-old winger has scored three goals and provided three assists in 17 La Liga starts, and has scored three goals and provided one assist in six Champions League starts for Madrid this season.
