Liverpool have now joined West Ham United with an interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, as the Premier League giants take an early look ahead for 2023 transfers.

Liverpool now join West Ham in tracking PSV Eindhoven star Ibrahim Sangare

According to Calciomercato, Liverpool have now joined the list of clubs showing an interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare. The Dutch side managed to fend off a raft of approaches for the 24-year-old this year, but already face keeping the vultures away again.

AC Milan sought to sound out a deal to take the Ivory Coast international to the San Siro in the summer sales. Stefano Pioli saw the 24-cap anchor as a viable option to strengthen his Serie A-winning engine room on the back of losing Franck Kessie to Barcelona for free.

West Ham United also admire Sangare, and will continue to track his performances at the Philips Stadion ahead of 2023. He has started the season as an integral presence of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first team in charge with 10 appearances across all competitions thus far.

Sangare has also offered three goals, including one away to Rangers but it was not enough to win the two-legged Champions League qualifying tie. PSV, instead, fell into the Europa League group stage, where they will meet Arsenal, Bodo/Glimt and FC Zurich in Group A.

Thomas Tuchel tried to secure late Ibrahim Sangare switch to Chelsea

Despite starting the season with three goals in 10 games, Sangare is naturally a deep-lying ball-winning midfielder. His efforts at the base of the engine room also caught late interest from Thomas Tuchel in the summer sales, whilst the German was still in charge of Chelsea.

Reports by Voetbal International noted Chelsea approached PSV to discuss a deadline day deal for the 6 ft 3 anchor. The Blues were prepared to pay between €40-45m (£35-39.5m) for Sangare, who was open to the transfer. But Boeren had no interest in letting him leave.

PSV had also given Sangare a new contract at the start of August running until 2027, which did not put West Ham off their interest in the now-possible Liverpool target. Foot Mercato reported following the former Toulouse talent’s new terms that the Irons were very keen.

A likely chance to play Champions League football at Liverpool – like was on offer with any late transfer to Chelsea – could tempt Sangare to snub further interest from West Ham, if the Hammers are drawn into a bidding war with the Reds – should PSV ever warm to sell.
