HITC understands that Liverpool are keen to understand what it would take to get a deal over the line for Federico Chiesa.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool are the only side in the Premier League who have yet to make a summer addition with the Reds failing to get a deal done for Martin Zubimendi earlier this month.
However, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili with the Georgian goalkeeper set to complete his move to Anfield in 2025, with the goalkeeper set to remain at Valencia for the current campaign.
A new forward addition has been one of Liverpool’s targets this summer and it appears things could be happening on that front.
Liverpool have conversations with Juventus over Federico Chiesa deal
HITC understands that Liverpool have had conversations with Juventus about what a deal for Italian winger Federico Chiesa would look like.
Earlier this summer, we reported that Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle had held talks over a deal for Chiesa whilst Liverpool were also keen and it appears the Merseyside club have stolen a march on these two clubs.
We reported that Chiesa was open to joining a Premier League side this summer which has prompted talks to open with Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle.
HITC understands that Arsenal and Liverpool had previously been informed about Chiesa’s situation and it appears that the Merseyside club are prepared to take things further and attempt to thrash out a deal for the 26-year-old winger.
Chiesa has had a fair few injury problems in recent seasons but that does not appear to have put Liverpool off attempting to get a deal done for the Italian.
Juventus’s stance on selling Chiesa explained
HITC understands that Juventus are desperate to move Chiesa on this summer as the Italian club look to finalise their own forward additions.
We had reported that Juventus had opened talks with Manchester United over a move for Jadon Sancho with the Englishman yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Red Devils this season.
In addition to the potential addition of Sancho, Juventus are also keen on FC Porto Francisco Conceicao and Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina.
For these additions to occur, a sale may be required and this is where Chiesa would come into the equation. Liverpool’s Luiz Diaz has attracted interest from Barcelona so another forward addition would make sense for the club this summer.
As for Chiesa, Rio Ferdinand once hailed the Italian as ‘fantastic’ as per The Metro and he’d certainly be an interesting profile to add to Liverpool’s current squad.
