Liverpool’s Arne Slot could be in for a nervy few weeks with Barcelona reportedly keen on a key player for the Dutchman.

Since being appointed as manager of Liverpool this summer, the Reds have yet to make a signing this summer but that could be changing sooner rather than later.

HITC has reported that Liverpool have been encouraged in the race for Martin Zubimendi with the Real Sociedad midfielder reportedly open to a potential move to Anfield.

Apart from that, things have been quiet at Anfield but outgoings could still be a possibility this summer with Barcelona reportedly keen on one of their attackers.

Barcelona remain keen on Luis Diaz

According to a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona remains keen on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz this summer.

The La Liga side have previously been linked didn’t make progress because they have been focusing on Nico Williams. The Spaniard decided to take the No.10 shirt at Athletic Bilbao, which indicates he’s expected to continue at the Basque club.

HITC had reported that Barcelona were working on a deal for Williams with the Spaniard making it clear that, despite interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, the winger wanted Barcelona.

However, with Bilbao announcing that Williams will wear the iconic number 10 shirt, the Spanish giants may have to move on to other targets.

One of these is Diaz. As well as the Colombian forward, Barcelona have reportedly looked at Rafael Leao and Kingsley Coman in case a deal for the Spaniard fails to materialise.

They were ready to offer up to €62 million (£53 million) for Williams and are willing to offer a similar fee to sign another forward.

Diaz has been on Barcelona’s radar for a while with Deco a fan

The Spanish outlet claims that Diaz has been on Barcelona’s radar for a long time and the Colombian is said to be a big fan of the Catalan giants.

Despite the winger’s reported desire to one day play for Barcelona, Liverpool will not make it easy for the former FC Porto ace.

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is reportedly a big fan of the Colombian so perhaps there is a chance that a deal could be revitalised towards the end of the transfer window.

As well as Deco being a fan, Diaz was certainly admired by former boss Jurgen Klopp, who previously hailed him as “really, really special” when speaking to OneFootball in 2022.
