Anthony Gordon possibly going from Everton to Newcastle United and then to Liverpool would be some story.

The 23-year-old was one of the best wingers in the Premier League last season and he made huge strides under Eddie Howe.

The Everton academy product scored 11 and assisted 10 for Newcastle, which in tune, got him a call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad, but he only played a few minutes.

It also seemed to catch the eye of Liverpool, who have several players who can deploy that left-sided role, but Gordon is still the talk of the town – Howe has urged Newcastle to hand Gordon a new contact.

Whatever you think of Mohamed Salah’s form during the second half of the previous campaign, he is still one of the best players in the Premier League.

And the thought of Gordon and Salah on each wing at Anfield would leave Newcastle fans heartbroken, Everton fans fuming and opponents frightened.

But for now, Gordon is still a Newcastle player and many fullbacks will be having sleepless nights over the thought of having to face him ahead of the new Premier League season.

Gordon was asked who is the best player he has faced, and from a defensive aspect, he put forward the name of Paris Saint-Germain fullback, Achraf Hakimi, as he told Fubo. – Newcastle beat PSG in the Champions League last season.

But the main one he put forward was Salah, even though the Englishman is a winger, because the Liverpool man would have forced him to track back quite a lot of times.

Anthony Gordon hails Mohamed Salah

“I would say directly against, I would say Hakimi for PSG,” said Gordon. “He was definitely the best right-back.

“But on the pitch, I would probably say Mo Salah.”

Saying that, Liverpool actually haven’t signed a player yet, even though they have a new manager – Arne Slot – in the dugout.

Liverpool actually could lose one of their own key players, with Trent Alexander-Arnold slammed for his actions amid Real Madrid links.
