Arsenal are understood to have struck an agreement with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia but another team could scupper their plans.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal kicked off their hunt for their first Premier League title since 2005 with a comfortable 2-0 win over Wolves. Troy Deeney hailed Bukayo Saka as ‘immense’ during that victory at the Emirates Stadium.
With just under two weeks before the window slams shut, Arsenal are seemingly not done in the transfer window with the Gunners progressing in talks with Real Sociedad for Mikel Merino.
As well as Merino, Arsenal wants a backup goalkeeper with sources telling HITC that the Gunners struck an agreement with Joan Garcia over a move. However, there is one stumbling block in the way and this could allow Liverpool to come in for the Spaniard.

Liverpool could enter Joan Garcia race
HITC reported that whilst an agreement had been reached for Garcia, a deal could not move forward with La Liga side RCD Espanyol until the future of Aaron Ramsdale is resolved.
We had reported that Arsenal were open to allowing Ramsdale to leave on loan this summer and Wolves are understood to be keen on the Englishman.
In terms of Garcia, a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that Liverpool could be ready to enter the race for the goalkeeper.
We had reported that Liverpool had agreed terms with Georgian Giorgi Mamardashvilli with the Valencia goalkeeper set to head on loan to Bournemouth until 2025.
Interestingly, the reports from Mundo Deportivo that Liverpool could enter the race for Garcia is written by Sergio Escario, who is RCD Espanyol’s correspondent.
Liverpool edging closer to Mamardashvilli deal
Whilst Liverpool crashing Arsenal’s pursuit of a player would not be the first time, with the Reds nearly signing Martin Zubimendi before the Spaniard decided to turn down Liverpool’s advances and remain at Real Sociedad, it surely seems unlikely.
With Alisson’s future at Liverpool uncertain, amid interest from the Saudi Pro League, a new first-team goalkeeper may be desired.
Terry Gibson believes Mamardashvilli can be the ‘readymade’ replacement for Alisson and if Liverpool did go down the route of signing the Georgian and loan him out to Bournemouth, for example, it would certainly be another very smart decision made by the Anfield club.
