Lex Immers was wanted by Celtic during the January transfer window, but he decided to move to Belgium.
Lex Immers has suggested that the prospect of moving his children to Glasgow was the reason he decided to reject Celtic for Club Brugge during the January transfer window, despite the Hoops putting a more financially lucrative offer on the table, the Daily Record reports.

The 30-year-old went into last month as a Cardiff City player, but struggled to make much of an impact for the Championship side and ultimately had his contract cancelled early on in the month before swiftly completing a move to Belgium (via Wales Online).

And reflecting upon the decision, Immers explained that, despite the Hoops putting a better offer in front of him, it was not a difficult call once he considered what he felt to be the right decision for his family.
“I didn’t want to drag my kids to Glasgow and therefore I chose to sign for Brugge,” he said, as reported by the Record.
“I didn’t hesitate for a second when it came to making my choice.

“That was even though it cost me a lot of money to sign for Brugge instead of Celtic or Stuttgart.”
Though his versatility may have made him a good addition to Brendan Rodgers’ squad, and he has previously shown in his career that he can be more than useful in front of goal – he scored 50 times in 213 Eredivisie games before moving to Wales – it does not appear that the Bhoys will rue missing out on him too much.

Although Celtic have played a game more than their nearest rivals, they are already within touching distance of yet another league title as they sit 27 points clear of Aberdeen and have dropped points in a domestic game on just one occasion.

And with 20 more league goals than any other team in the top flight, it appears that missing out on Immers’ signature has not hurt them at all.
