Leeds United need signings in January but may miss out on Basel striker Arthur Cabral, with the race for his signature believed to be hotting up.

Leeds’ interest in Cabral

Basel star Cabral has been linked with Leeds for some time now.

Back in August 2020, Leeds allegedly made a bid for Cabral but couldn’t get the deal done.

Just a matter of weeks ago, ESPN Brasil reported that Leeds were back in for Arthur ahead of the January window.

With 27 goals and eight assists in just 30 games this season, few could have blamed Leeds fans for being hugely excited.

Cabral has been working with Raphinha’s agent

If Leeds fans needed any encouragement about a move for Cabral, then the identity of his agent will do it.

Cabral has been represented by an intermediary in transfer talks so far – and that intermediary is Deco.

Deco represents Leeds star Raphinha and helped make the wide man’s 2020 move to Elland Road go through.

Cabral, a big and physical striker, would no doubt love to feed off Raphinha’s creativity in a potentially perfect duo – all brought together by Deco.

Leeds could now miss out

The problem for Leeds is that they now risk missing out on the prolific Brazilian.

Swiss outlet 442 claim West Ham United have already made a bid for Cabral. Jeunes Footeux even claim that Arsenal have joined the race.

Both currently offer greater prospects than Leeds, and even Barcelona have been linked.

Leeds may need to give Deco a call and talk up the prospect of joining forces with Raphinha if they’re to win this race, which has become rather crowded ahead of January.
