LeBron James has made his decision. He will join the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2026-27 NBA season.

LeBron has been a free agent for the last 24 days, but his saga has finally come to an end after the 41-year-old announced he will join the 76ers for next season.

LeBron signed a two-year, $8 million contract with a player option, essentially accepting the veteran’s minimum to team up with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown.

Shams Charania of ESPN revealed the contract details on James’ new deal, a two-year contract with a player option next season, allowing James the opportunity to either continue in Philly or test free agency again, if not retire.

“BREAKING: LeBron James is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million deal with a player option, Klutch Sports Group and Klutch CEO and Game Over show host Rich Paul tells ESPN.”

The contract will net James around $3,876,529 in the 2026-27 season, almost $50 million off the $52.6 million he made with the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

The 76ers will never get the opportunity to sign a player with James’ calibre and production for this price again, so the franchise has to go all-in on winning a title with LeBron in the next season.

James will return to the Eastern Conference and wear a fourth jersey in his vaunted NBA career, which will enter Year 24 when he suits up for the 76ers in October’s regular-season opener.

At least the NBA can now definitively chart next season’s schedule, with James and the 76ers likely getting most of the marquee spots like opening night and Christmas Day.
