LeBron James’ 2026 free agency might be heading to an end with the pitching process by interested teams finally being completed.
The Timberwolves, Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers, and Warriors seem to be the finalists in the 2026 LeBron free agency race.
Each team has had its opportunity to pitch to James and his agent, Rich Paul, with only one thing remaining: for LeBron to make up his mind.

ESPN’s Shams Charania has revealed that the pitching process for LeBron is over, as all teams have submitted their pitches to James’ camp for the final decision from the 41-year-old.
“The voice notes have all been listened to, the rosters are set, the decks are all laid out… We’ll see when he’s ready to make his decision.”
James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists last season and is expected to join a contending squad for a chance at a title in his 24th season.
He can still lead a team to Playoff wins, as he proved in the 2026 Playoffs, but his decision will impact the rest of free agency for the multiple interested contenders stuck in a holding pattern until James is off the market.

From a TV announcement in 2010, to a press release in 2014, and an online statement in 2018, LeBron is no stranger to announcing he’s switching teams.
It’s only natural that James used his ‘Mind The Game’ podcast to make his announcement so people can hear about it directly from him, instead of through a Charania tweet.
James will host a live podcast at the Fanatics Fest, scheduled for July 16th and 17th, with special co-host Tyrese Haliburton. This podcast led insider Scoop B Robinson to share that this might be the perfect place for LeBron to share his decision with the public.
It would be a great place for an announcement, but it’d be odd for him to announce this news at a New York-based event if he wasn’t going to join the Knicks this summer.
We might get LeBron clarifying at the start of the show that he hasn’t made a decision yet and expects people to respect that, or he might make his announcement before the show to discuss it with everyone.
