Walker Kessler is finally on the LA Lakers and is now committing himself entirely to helping Luka Doncic and the team win an NBA championship.

After two years of scouting him, the LA Lakers completed a sign-and-trade for Walker Kessler, giving up their remaining first-round draft picks to land him.

Kessler is the type of center that the Lakers have sorely needed – a player who can be a presence on both ends of the court.

Walker Kessler ready to show LA Lakers he was worth the price to land him

Walker Kessler spoke to reporters as part of an organized media interaction for the LA Lakers. When asked about the high price the team paid for him, he had a clear response.

Kessler noted that the organization showed a lot of faith in him, and he is ready to prove that he was worth the price.

“It definitely makes you feel a certain way when you know an organization believes in you. And I think what they’ve invested, they’re showing that belief in a monetary value, not just with money, but like you said, assets.

“And for me, I’m somebody that if I know that they have that belief in me, I’m gonna run through a brick wall for them.”

Walker Kessler could be LA Lakers’ biggest difference-maker

For years, the LA Lakers have not had a strong center available to them. Their last center pairing that helped them came in 2020 with Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee.

This pairing proved to be pivotal in their run to the 2020 NBA Championship, as both Howard and McGee rotated based on their rivals at different stages.

Since then, the Lakers have failed to land a starting-quality center, and it has cost them on the playoff stage on a regular basis.

Perhaps landing Kessler can finally help them become championship contenders. But given how tough the Western Conference is, they will face a huge challenge.
