LeBron James leaving the Los Angeles Lakers has injected many NBA teams with newfound excitement.

Despite not being in the prime of his career, even at 41, LeBron James is easily a top-15 player in the NBA right now.

This is outright unbelievable, but that’s the reason behind teams from around the league lining up to get James’ signature over the dotted line.

LeBron James’ old tweet should give hope to the Washington Wizards

Among the teams interested in James, the Washington Wizards are consistently being discussed as a potential destination for him.

Keeping that in mind, James’ one tweet from 2012 has resurfaced, which could spell good news for the Eastern Conference side.

“After all these years I still love DC! Always show me so much love back,” James tweeted on X.

At the time, James was a member of the Miami Heat and had yet to win his first-ever NBA Championship. In fact, James was still viewed as a villain by most fans in the league.

However, the Wizards fans always showed love to the King and this was evident from his tweet, which he wrote after the Heat registered a 106-89 win over their conference rivals.

LeBron James to Washington Wizards will reunite him with Anthony Davis

The Wizards will kick off a new era in the 2026-27 NBA season with the dynamic duo of Trae Young and Anthony Davis expected to lead the team to a deep playoff run.

Additionally, the Wizards will also have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, AJ Dybantsa, make his debut for the team next season.

Evidently, adding James to the mixture could create a solid roster for the Wizards, one that could even win the NBA Championship if all goes well.

But can the Wizards afford to sign James? Yes, is the emphatic answer as they have access to the full non-tax mid-level exception worth $15 million.

With the prospect of a reunion with AD, joining the Wizards is slowly becoming a top-notch option for the 4x NBA champion before retiring from the league.
