HITC understands that Manuel Ugarte’s agents are confident a deal to take the midfielder to Manchester United will happen this summer.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have been busy this summer with the Red Devils already making four key additions to their first team setup under the Dutchman.

United completed the double signing of Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui this week with the pair joining the Red Devils to complete their defensive rebuild after the addition of Leny Yoro last month.

Now, the Red Devils have decided to move higher up the pitch and are focusing their efforts on a deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte and there has been a development in the race for the Uruguayan.

Manuel Ugarte left out of Paris Saint-Germain squad

According to Paris Saint-Germain’s official page on X, Ugarte has been left out of the squad for their opening game of the Ligue 1 season this weekend.

Sources have told HITC that Ugarte’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to thrash out terms which would see Joao Felix return to Chelsea but the Portuguese super agent is also trying to break the deadlock with the Uruguayan midfielder.

HITC reported United’s interest in Ugarte back in June but no real progress has been made on the deal since that point.

We had also reported that United had been offered over half a decent midfielders since Ugarte but it appears it is the Uruguayan that the Red Devils are keen on signing this summer to try and improve their midfield department.

Manuel Ugarte has made his stance clear on Man United move

Source have told HITC that Mendes is confident that a deal to take his client to Old Trafford this summer will eventually get finalised but time is running out for the Red Devils.

It looked as if United would need a replacement for Casemiro this summer with the future of the Brazilian uncertain.

We had reported that United were keen to offload Casemiro to the Saudi Pro League but the former Real Madrid star remains at Old Trafford with just two weeks remaining of the window before it slams shut.

As for Ugarte, who only moved to PSG to play under Luis Campos last summer, HITC understands that the Uruguayan is not entertaining offers from elsewhere as there is confidence a deal will be completed. Ugarte has made it clear that he only wants to move to United this summer.
