Manchester United are close to announcing a double deal for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

The Red Devils are set to secure some much-needed defensive reinforcements after striking a £60million (€70million) double deal for the Bayern Munich duo.

Manchester United will pay £43million for Matthijs de Ligt – including just over £4million in add-ons, and £17million for Noussair Mazraoui.

United’s lack of defensive depth was exposed at Wembley Stadium on Saturday as they surrendered their lead to Manchester City late on with Facundo Pellistri used as a makeshift right-back.

But a double deal for De Ligt and Mazraoui has now been accepted by Bayern and the duo are flying in to undergo their medicals.

HITC understands that they will undergo their medicals on Monday before finalising their moves.

Both players have agreed five-year deals at the club and will join Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro as new additions this summer.

Latest on Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal

Mazraoui will arrive at Old Trafford to add extra depth to United’s right-back spot alongside Diogo Dalot.

Wan-Bissaka is closing in on a move to West Ham, with the Londoners agreeing to pay £15million for the 26-year-old.

Mazraoui’s move to United is dependent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka joining West Ham but the Dutch defender is still flying to England regardless.

HITC is told that the deal for Wan-Bissaka is progressing and is expected to be in place by Monday.

His exit will then give United the green light to finalise a deal for Mazraoui.

With the double deal close to completion, United can turn full focus towards a new central midfielder with Ten Hag still thin in that area.
