HITC understands that Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is now heading to Atletico Madrid for his medical ahead of a move this summer.

Conor Gallagher was in limbo over his Chelsea future with the English midfielder returning to Stamford Bridge after a deal with Atletico Madrid for the academy graduate was agreed.

As mentioned, Gallagher completed his medical with Atletico and everything was agreed at the start of the month which would see the midfielder move to the Wanda Metropolitano.

However, Atletico’s agreement with Chelsea was not signed and it went unsigned as the two clubs were negotiating a deal for Joao Felix to move to Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher now set to complete move to Atletico Madrid

HITC understands that Gallagher is expected back in Madrid on Tuesday to finalise his move to Atletico. Following lengthy talks, Gallagher has now been told by Chelsea and Atletico to return to the Spanish capital.

The deal although, not a swap, was directly related to Felix’s impending move to Chelsea and sources have confirmed to HITC that his move is now very near to being concluded, which would see the Portuguese forward return to West London after a spell at the club during the 2022/2023 season.

Earlier this summer, Gallagher had attracted interest from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur but the Englishman wanted to move to Spain.

Joao Felix pencilled in for medical

Felix is pencilled in for his medical in London in the next 48 hours after a six-year deal was agreed with the Portuguese.

Chelsea remain hopeful that another one-in, one-out deal, will be finalised with Napoli in the coming days but terms are still not agreed with Napoli over Romelu Lukaku.

Once that potential deal for Lukaku is done Chelsea will concentrate on bringing Victor Osimhen to the club with the Nigerian keen on moving to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues originally wanted to bring in Samu Omorodion but the deal for the Atletico striker collapsed over a ‘major contractual issue’ at the club and it now appears that Felix is the man who could move to Stamford Bridge this summer and Gallagher could finally complete his move to Spain.
