The Los Angeles Lakers are targeting a second former Golden State Warrior after signing Kevon Looney in free agency.

Looney signed a one-year, $3.9 million deal with the Lakers, where he will back up Walker Kessler at center.

General manager Rob Pelinka has completely rebuilt the Lakers’ roster following LeBron James’ departure.

However, Pelinka still wants to sign at least one more player to help Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves next season.

LA Lakers want Jonathan Kuminga after signing Kevon Looney

The Lakers are “actively pursuing” former Warriors power forward Jonathan Kuminga in free agency, according to ESPN.

The Warriors traded Kuminga to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis midway through last season.

Kuminga had become frustrated with his lack of playing time under head coach Steve Kerr and wanted out of Golden State.

The 23-year-old is now an unrestricted free agent after the Hawks declined his $24.3 million team option.

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka and coach JJ Redick both met Kuminga the following day to pitch the idea of joining them in LA.

However, the Lakers have since spent almost all of their cap space on Kessler, Looney, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Quentin Grimes, and Collin Sexton.

Therefore, they would probably need to trade one of Jarred Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht, and Jaden Hardy to free up some more salary.

Kuminga and his agent, Aaron Turner, have not given the Lakers an answer, as they weigh up other options around the league.

The forward could still return to the Hawks on a cheaper deal, while the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Sacramento Kings are also interested.

Kuminga would be a great signing for the Lakers, bringing some much-needed athleticism and depth to the rotation.
