Jaylen Brown might be the Philadelphia 76ers’ newest star, but he just found out he has roots in the city thanks to A.J. Brown.
Brown was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George and draft compensation, marking one of the shocking trades in recent memory.
Now on the 76ers, Jaylen Brown will represent the City of Brotherly Love. But as he learned recently, he won’t be the first in his bloodline to do so.

Jaylen Brown reveals how he found out about A.J. Brown family connection
Speaking to reporters after his trade to the Philadelphia 76ers was formalised, Jaylen Brown revealed that he and Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown are actually cousins.
He found out that they share a great-grandfather, and their grandfathers were actually brothers, something he learned recently.
“What’s crazy is that we’re cousins. I didn’t know that. My grandpa just told me. I don’t think he knew that either. His grandfather is brothers with my grandfather.”
With two of Philly sports’ biggest figures now sharing a family connection, it will make the journey both players go on next season even more special
And with both teams playing right across the street from each other, perhaps the two cousins can support each other during games.
Jaylen Brown could help Philadelphia 76ers finally reach the Eastern Conference Finals
Brown brings championship experience to the 76ers that their roster sorely needed from their star players.
One of the biggest issues for the 76ers has been their inability to make it past the second round of the playoffs over the years.
In fact, the last time the 76ers were able to make an Eastern Conference Finals appearance was back in 2001, when Allen Iverson led them to the NBA Finals.
Perhaps Brown, a former NBA champion and Finals MVP, can be a difference maker for the 76ers and finally help them get to the Eastern Conference Finals.
