Wantaway Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe refused to give too much away when quizzed directly about a potential move to Premier League giants Liverpool, speaking to RMC Sport.

The French champions thought they had put all that speculation behind them when Mbappe signed a new contract at the Parc des Princes a couple of months ago, sparking an almighty sigh of relief all across the French capital.

So, when the rumours over Mbappe’s future returned with a vengeance in midweek, PSG supporters could have been forgiven for shaking their head in disbelief. Here we go again.

The Guardian say that the 2018 World Cup winner now has his heart set on leaving. Preferably, as early as possible. He is ‘unhappy’ with life under head coach Christophe Galtier, forced to play as a number nine rather than wide on the left.

But with Mbappe one of the most valuable and expensive footballing talents on planet earth, can anyone really afford to pay the sort of sum PSG would be looking for?

Could Liverpool really sign PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe?

“What we are talking about is a sublime talent. What we will not be talking about is him signing for an English Premier League club,” says former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, who knows a thing or two about how football finances work.

“I don’t think an English Premier League club will pay £200 million (the likely package for his price-tag and wages).

“I just don’t think it will happen. Ultimately, there are only a few spaces he could land. And it won’t be Liverpool, despite Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for the player.

“So where can he land? If Man City make a £200 million purchase, there will be people all over them for Financial Fair Play. Properly, this time. You will not be able to make a £200 million football transfer work.”

Mbappe, meanwhile, insists that his focus remains on the upcoming Qatar World Cup, with France aiming to retain their crown. Beyond December, however, who knows what the future could hold?

“For now, (I’m only thinking about winning) a second World Cup. After that, I don’t know,” Mbappe said with a smile when the subject of Liverpool and Real Madrid was brought up.
