Former Premier League owner Simon Jordan believes there is no chance wantaway PSG forward Kylian Mbappe ends up in England with the France international too expensive for Liverpool and even Manchester City, speaking to talkSPORT (12th October, 10.40am).

Having spent ten years at the helm of Crystal Palace, Jordan certainly knows a thing or two about how football finances work.

And while one of the planet’s premiere footballing talents could be on the market as soon as January The Guardian claiming that he has his heart set on a January exit from the Parc des Princes – even some of the biggest and most deep-pocketed of Premier League clubs would struggle to make enough wriggle room in their budget for a truly eye-watering outlay.

“What we are talking about is a sublime talent. What we will not be talking about is him signing for an English Premier League club,” Jordan explains. “I don’t think an English Premier League club will pay £200 million to release him (from his PSG contract).

“I just don’t think it will happen – I think he will probably end up going to Spain (Real Madrid). And then we’ll have this ridiculous argument with (La Liga president Javier) Tebas, where people are breaking football while his clubs spend the most money.”

Where will Kylian Mbappe go if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain?

Paris Saint-Germain appeared to have put all this drama behind them when convincing Mbappe to sign a new three-year deal in May. Well, what looked initially like a three-year deal anyway. As it transpires, Mbappe’s deal only runs until 2024, with the player himself holding the option to extend for a further 12 months (L’Equipe).

As such, PSG could soon find themselves in an identical situation to last summer; speculation swirling around a wantaway player due to become a free-agent only 12 months down the line.

“Ultimately, there are only a few spaces he could land,” Jordan adds. “And it won’t be Liverpool, despite Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for the player.

“So where can he land? If Man City make a £200 million purchase, there will be people all over them for Financial Fair Play. Properly, this time. You will not be able to make a £200 million football transfer work.”
