Formula 1 drivers get to race some of the fastest cars in the world, but away from the track, they possess some of the most exciting vehicles on the planet.

Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli didn’t pass his driving test until after he had taken part in his first F1 session.

The Italian teenager crashed during an FP1 session at Monza before being announced as Lewis Hamilton’s replacement, but went on to finish fourth on his debut in Australia last year as one of the youngest drivers in F1 history.

Now, Antonelli is preparing for his second Formula 1 campaign, with Mercedes looking like one of the favourites as the new regulations take effect.

The 19-year-old will be hoping to achieve his first F1 victory in 2026, but away from the track, he’s getting the opportunity to test one of Mercedes’ finest road cars.

Kimi Antonelli testing collectors edition Mercedes-AMG GT 63 away from Formula 1

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport has provided more details on the latest car Antonelli has been driving.

Antonelli already owns a GT 63, but he’s now ‘adding’ a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro Motorsport Collectors Edition to his growing collection of vehicles.

It’s a ‘numbered edition’, meaning there are only very few available and has a custom paint job that includes an ‘obsidian black metallic base’ with a ‘star motif’ and ‘Petronas-coloured stripes’.

Mercedes want to make their supercars feel more connected to the F1 team, especially if they anticipate some success during the next era of the sport.

Although the price of Antonelli’s new car hasn’t been disclosed, the premium version of the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is listed at £200,000.

It’s believed Antonelli’s car cost a ‘much higher figure’, and there’s another interesting detail which has emerged from the teenager buying this car.

Due to his age, Antonelli isn’t legally allowed to drive a car that powerful under an Italian driving licence.

However, Antonelli holds a San Marino driving licence where there are ‘no power limits in force for new Italian drivers’.

How powerful is Kimi Antonelli’s new Mercedes-AMG GT 63?

The belief is that Antonelli’s version of the 63 Pro 4Matic+ is designed for ‘sporty driving’.

The car has a 4.0-litre AMG twin-turbo V8 engine, which can deliver 612hp.

This doesn’t compare to what Antonelli drives for his day job, with the new 2026 Mercedes easily capable of delivering more than 1,000hp thanks to the new hybrid power unit.

Drivers are quickly having to adapt to racing with an internal combustion engine and MGU-K, where the power delivery is very different to last season.

Antonelli’s new Mercedes road car is designed for increased stability at high speeds, as well as an advanced cooling system.

Fernando Alonso’s car collection will be the envy of Antonelli and plenty of other drivers on the grid.

Lewis Hamilton has sold many of his cars, while the Italian teenager is just getting started collecting his favourite machines.
